Ince & Co annual prize awarded to Swansea University maritime law student

Ince & Co is delighted to announce that Diego Barría Urenda, student on Swansea University's LLM programme for International Maritime, Trade and Commercial Law, has been awarded Ince & Co's Annual Maritime Prize. The award is presented to students on the programme who achieve the highest grade in the taught elements of the postgraduate degree.
Ince partner Tony George presented the award. Mr George commended Swansea for their LLM degree courses which he said are both “contemporary and practical” and wished Diego the best in his future endeavours.
Professor Rhidian Thomas, the Director of the Institute of International Shipping and Trade Law, Swansea University described Diego as an “outstanding student”, achieving 70 percent for all of the modules on the LLM course.
Diego graduated from Adolfo Ibáñez University, Viña del Mar, Chile and has worked for several years in private practice.
Ince is proud to continue its commitment to the maritime community and Swansea University. The event is now in its third year and previous winners include Yan Xu in 2009 and Florian Schulz in 2008.

Ince & Co partners Michael Stockwood, Kevin Cooper, Stephen Marais and Vincent Xu are hosting a one day pre-conference workshop on “Key strategies to achieving a consensual agreement maximising the benefits for both banks and owners”. The workshop will explore three key themes; restructuring shipping loans, enforcement, and issues relating to Chinese finance and involvement with Chinese shipyards.
