Employment Law Update now available
Thursday 27 October, 2011
Our latest Employment Law Update outlines important legislative changes, recent cases of interest and latest news of which businesses need to be aware in order to ensure that their workplace practices comply with current law and minimise the potential for disputes.
We should particularly highlight:
The Agency Workers’ Regulations 2010
These regulations came into force on 1 October 2011. Agency workers are now entitled to the same basic working and employment conditions after a 12 week qualifying period and they have the same access to job opportunities and amenities as employees, from the first day of their assignment.
Chancellor’s Announcement on Unfair Dismissal
It was recently announced that the unfair dismissal qualifying period will rise from one to two years from 6 April 2012. It is estimated that this will reduce unfair dismissal claims by about 2,000 per year.
