EU sanctions developments in Libya and Syria - Update

The EU has eased sanctions against Libya by lifting its asset freeze on 28 Libyan entities, including the six previously sanctioned port authorities, meaning that some significant barriers to trade with Libya have been removed.

By contrast, EU sanctions against Syria have been stepped up with the list of persons and entities subject to asset freezes having been expanded and a prohibition introduced on the purchase, import or transportation of Syrian crude oil and petroleum products.
