Regulation likely to impact insurance market
Thursday 03 September, 2009
Speaking at the Insurance Insider's Pre-Monte Carlo Rendez-Vous Executive Briefing on 3 September, Peter Rogan, a senior partner in Ince & Co's insurance group, noted that initial concern in the market about potential exposure to claims arising from the global financial crisis had largely subsided. However, the same could not be said for the impact of the crisis on regulation.
Whilst, unlike banking, the insurance industry could fairly claim it had not been found wanting, said Rogan, it was unlikely to be wholly immune from the more intrusive approach which will undoubtedly now be adopted by the Financial Services Authority.
This theme was taken up by David Grantham, a Senior Associate in Ince's insurance corporate and regulatory group, when he participated in the Insider's Round Table at the Rendez-Vous.
