Graham acts for a number of major shipowners and P&I and Defence Clubs in a wide range of shipping disputes encompassing cargo claims, bareboat time and voyage charterparty disputes, groundings, container collapses, arrest (and release) of vessels and disputes over jurisdiction, logistics, sales and purchase of vessels (new and second hand), bills of lading, fraudulent shipping documents, agency and liner company disputes and P&I and Defence Club rules.
Whilst always seeking a commercial solution to disputes, he recently successfully defended a multi-million dollar claim for breach of contract over a world-wide repair and maintenance contract and in another matter obtained substantial damages for shipowners following charterers’ premature termination of a long term charterparty.
Graham’s diverse practice includes a wide range of contractual disputes on behalf of international clients and for insurers, accountants, terminals and warehouses, including a recent dispute arising from the alleged infestation of a warehouse and consequential losses arising therefrom.
He deals national and international disputes, many involving the seizure of funds throughout the world and international agency disputes often involving jurisdiction conflict and choice of law regimes.
Graham advises steel, grain and feed traders globally. He has recently been involved in Freight Forwarding Agreement (FFAs) disputes and other disputes arising from FOB and CIF shipments. He has also advised on numerous problems arising from the export of steel to companies in China and India.
