John joined Ince & Co in the London office in 1999 and moved to Ince Singapore in 2007.

John is experienced in LMAA, LCIA, SIAC, SCMA and ad hoc arbitrations in London and Singapore as well as proceedings in the High Court in London. He is a keen sailor and participates in various sailing events in Singapore in his Nacra 5.0 catamaran.

John has wide experience advising clients in relation to dry shipping and international trade disputes, including disputes arising from charterparties, bills of lading, FFAs and shipping derivatives, shipbuilding contracts, MOAs, general average and salvage issues. He acts for shipowners and charterers, P&I clubs, hull underwriters and traders.

John has spoken at various conferences in Singapore and elsewhere in relation to these areas of the firm’s practice.

John acts for a wide range of Energy & Offshore clients, advising contractors in relation to disputes arising from drilling contracts and offshore contractors and shipyards in relation to the construction of FPSOs, drill ships and other offshore equipment.

He also acts for insurers and reinsurers in relation to control of well issues and disputes arising out of land-based and offshore oil and gas projects.

John acts for underwriters and shipowners in relation to issues arising out of hull and cargo policies. He has also advised on coverage issues in relation to the insurance of offshore mobile units and energy-related insurance matters.
