Kelvin’s work encompasses marine and non-marine insurance, contentious and regulatory, direct business and reinsurance. He specialises in disputes over marine cargo policies, contractors all risks/equipment installation all risks cover, bankers' blanket bonds, E&O insurance and political risks and reinsurance.
Kelvin recently advised ore traders and insurance brokers on vessel sinkings where the cargo insurer denied cover by relying on Institute Classification Clause and PNI warranty. He was also called upon by international insurers to advise on product development.
Kelvin has worked for a major Japanese insurer for over 15 years.
On the non-contentious side, Kelvin regularly advises insurers on authorisation, withdrawal, M&A, corporate governance issues and reinsurance/retrocession programs.
Kelvin is also an Appeals Tribunal member of the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers.

Kelvin is well versed in a broad range of shipping matters. He acts for major shipping lines, owners and charterers of bulkers and tankers, their P&I Clubs and cargo insurers. Kelvin handles disputes ranging from cargo damage/loss, unpaid charter hire, re-delivery disputes, demurrage to collision, unsafe port claims, personal injuries onboard and oil and air pollution charges.
