Ince & Co's Motorsport Group offers legal services to companies, teams, individuals, federations, associations and other bodies involved in the motor sports industry.
Our dedicated, multi-disciplinary team, advises on contentious and non-contentious issues including general corporate advice, management, sponsorship, personal injury, insurance and financial contracts, employment and construction. We also advise on disputes that may arise.
Jonathan Lux
Jonathan joined Ince & Co in 1975 and became a partner in 1983. He specialises in international commercial law including insurance, international trade, maritime and motorsports law and has been involved in many landmark cases in these fields. Jonathan also founded and has since co-headed Ince & Co’s ADR Group and has been a pioneer in the introduction of ADR (principally mediation) into his fields of practice.
His experience of court cases over the years has led him to champion the use of ADR and arbitration in these sectors, to enable people to quickly and cost-effectively put disputes behind them and to get on with their business.
David McInnes
David has been a partner since May 2003. He spent four years at Ince & Co's Hamburg office, returning to London in 2007, where he is now based.
David is bilingual in Italian and has been closely involved in the firm's practice in the Italian market. His dispute resolution practice extends from insurance to asset recovery, commerce and aviation. He conducts ADR, arbitration and litigation in London and internationally. David handles a range of transactional work, including ship finance and ship sale & purchase.
David represented the owner of a leading F1 team in a significant dispute involving the financing of his team.
Stuart Plotnek
Stuart specialises in transactional matters relating to financing and sale and purchase of assets, as well as security documentation, and other contractual work including the setting up of offshore ownership structures and joint ventures. Stuart lectures on financing and related sale and purchase topics.
In his private life he has raced karts and cars for over 20 years. He has raced an MG ZR in the Britcar Endurance Championship including taking part in (and finishing) both the 2005 and 2006 Britcar 24 Hour races at Silverstone and was overall Britcar Production S1 Champion in 2006. Since 2002 he has raced an MGF in the MG Owner's Club Championship in which he won a considerable number of races and Championships.
David Richards
David Richards is a litigator who deals primarily with all aspects of the firm's contentious practice areas. He also has extensive experience advising on contract formation with an eye on avoiding potential disputes. He has supported the motorsport industry over a number of years.
