Oliver Weiss was brought up in France and therefore speaks fluent French. He trained witha well known maritime firm after graduating from Magdalene College, Cambridge in the early1970s.

He joined Ince & Co in 1979, becoming a partner in 1983. Apart from a number of French clients Oliver has also been involved with Greek Shipping since 1974 and was managing partner of Ince Piraeus between 1999 and 2002 returning to the UK for his children’s secondary education. Currently Oliver is joint head of the Ince country teams for Italy and Monaco and leads the Turkey team.

Oliver has experience across the range of Ince & Co’s marine practice, including charterparty disputes, carriage of goods, total loss investigations, insurance and ship arrest. He has been involved in a number of high profile total loss cases starting with the Salem and the reported decision of Marel in the early 1990s. Oliver has developed considerable experience over his 35 years in London and has beena speaker at various conferences recently including Interferry, Istanbul and the LMAA 50th Anniversary celebrations in the London Guildhall in 2010.


Oliver has experience across the range of Ince’s shipping practice, including charterparty disputes, carriage of goods, casualties at sea, marine insurance and ship arrest.

Oliver’s maritime practice covers a range of marine insurance issues, including contentious and non-contentious advice on hull and P&I cover.

Oliver handles commercial disputes, not only in the shipping industry but also more widely.

He is experienced in court proceedings, arbitration and ADR, including multi-jurisdictional cases.
