Rania is experienced in commercial arbitration and litigation with a focus on the energy & offshore and shipping industries. Her practice is varied and covers a number of the firm’s core areas. Rania is a fluent Arabic speaker and has a particular interest in business in the Middle East.

Rania has been involved in complex arbitrations and litigation involving the energy and offshore service industry.

Of particular interest to Rania is the energy and offshore support service industry and she is closely involved with a number of the largest providers of offshore support services.

She frequently advises upon the terms of the SUPPLYTIME charter and has been involved in disputes between owners and charterers regarding their respective obligations there under. Rania has recently been involved in High Court litigation on behalf of an offshore service company and their claim for recovery from the London insurance market.

Rania has advised on a number of shipping disputes concerning the Middle East, including a number of casualty investigations arising out of groundings in the Suez Canal and was part of the team which handled The Tropic Brilliance grounding. Rania also acts for a number of Egyptian shipping interests in London litigation and arbitration. 

As a result of her involvement in the leading case of Gdynia v Gearbulk, which concerns the right of a buyer to claim damages from a yard which fails to deliver a vessel, Rania has developed a specialist practice advising on the issues which arise where yards are unable or unwilling to deliver vessels.
