Simon joined Ince as a partner in October 2011 from a leading international law firm. He graduated from St John’s College, Cambridge in 1979 with a degree in Modern History. He subsequently obtained a post graduate diploma in Law with distinction from The City University.
Simon has more than 25 years’ experience of advising clients in the London and international insurance and reinsurance markets and has extensive experience of acting in large scale disputes in the English Commercial Court and appellate Courts, in ad hoc arbitrations and in overseas jurisdictions. Many of these disputes have involved multiple parties and complex issues of fact and law. Simon also has comprehensive experience of mediation and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Simon’s practice focuses on reinsurance and professional indemnity business (principally for insurance brokers but also for accountants and others) and has included most areas of non-marine insurance including contingency, property, energy and space risks.
Simon is recommended in various guides including The Euromoney Expert Guide to Insurance & Reinsurance Lawyers, and in Chambers. He was also recently named as winner of the International Law Office (ILO) Client Choice Awards 2012 for Insurance/Reinsurance, UK. He is a member of the IUA Clauses Subcommittee and also edited the second edition of ‘Reinsurance Practice & the Law’ as well as writing and lecturing frequently.
