Tony has been involved in almost all the political risk insurance claims in the London Market over the last 30 years acting for underwriters, brokers, insureds or their financing banks. He also helped develop political and credit risk insurance products.
Described by Chambers & Partners 2011 as "your go-to man" for political risk matters, he has been involved in several hundred cases in over 80 countries. He is a frequent speaker and writer on the subject.
About 80% of the world’s oil and gas reserves are located in regions of the world characterised by an unstable political environment – they involve an exposure to political risks.
Tony assists clients in the minimisation of that risk: either in advising on the protection afforded by international treaties; the pursuit of claims under those treaties should an adverse government intervention occur; or laying off the risk by way of political risk insurance.
Much of the World’s trade involves the purchase of commodities, be they extracted or agricultural, from emerging markets and the BRIC countries, and this can involve an element of political and credit risk to their buyers and their bankers.
Tony advises on ways to protect against and lay off these risks.
