As attention in the energy industry has turned to renewable resources, so we have applied our skills to wind farms, both offshore and onshore, as well as hydro-electric and geothermal power plants. In the same way that we used our shipping expertise to take ourselves into oil and gas work, so too we are now using our experience of offshore construction and drilling, as well as shipping, to develop our wind and wave energy practice. Our offshore energy experience means we are well-placed to advise businesses in this field of expertise.
Projects we have recently advised on include various offshore wind farms, both operational and under construction, as well as a hybrid offshore wind and gas farm. We have also advised on hydro-electric and geothermal plants in Russia and Turkey. Our expertise includes:
- Advising on a wide range of issues in relation to BIMCO Supplytime 1989 and 2005 charterparty forms
- Advising in relation to calculation of off-hire under offshore wind farm supply vessel contracts
- Resolving salvage disputes regarding offshore wind farm support vessels
